Lego City Undercover Drops to $50 This Week at Best Buy and Amazon

The original Lego City Undercover was a delight on the Wii U. Its open-world nature helped it stand out from anything else on the system, and the blend of comedy with action-movie tropes made it fun for older players as well. It was a rare game that combined a good blend of things for every age group, with kids loving the Lego-related puzzles, and adults appreciating the references to ’80s action movies. The game was sadly hard to find for quite some time until a Nintendo Selects re-release not only dropped its price to $20, but made it much easier to find in retail stores. Instead of spending $50 on the secondary market, you could just waltz into a store and grab a copy for less than half that cost.

It gave the game new life and made people want to see what could be done with that concept on newer hardware. The Switch version just hit digital and retail shelves and allows players to enjoy the same game – but better. You have upgraded graphics, smoother framerate, and a versatility that hasn’t been offered up before. You couldn’t play the original game on the go, but thanks to the play anywhere nature of the Switch’s tablet and Joycons, you can. This is easily the most expansive open-world game playable on a portable device right now, and it’s a blast to play. While its default price on the Switch is $60, you can get it for $49.99 at both Amazon and Best Buy this week. Best Buy users with Gamers Club Unlocked can get it for $39.99 – a $20 overall savings compared to the regular price.
