Last year, Azure Striker Gunvolt 2 was released on the 3DS alongside the Azure Striker Gunvolt Pack. This brought together both games, and was essentially the best overall way to experience the franchise since only the first entry was on Steam. Today, it was announced that this compilation will be coming to the Switch – enabling big screen playback for the second entry in the series for the first time ever.
This will be more than just a copy and paste job though, as the game will now run at a full 60 FPS. This is huge, and should make gameplay flow much better – especially when using the new high-flying Copen from Gunvolt 2. The entire DLC catalog will be pre-loaded as well, which is outstanding. HD rumble will also be used to add sensory emphasis to Gunvolt’s electrical attacks. The screen layout has been revamped to be optimized for a single screen – which didn’t even happen for the first game’s Steam version, which should be a godsend.
A new song will also debut on the Switch, and the art and event graphics have been revamped for higher resolution – making all of the menus easier to see. The game’s balance has been revamped to be more fair and will use the balancing from 2 to make it a less frustrating experience. Pro controller support will also be included, which should make for a more natural-feeling experience – especially for those looking to speedrun or simply beat their own best score. Azure Striker Gunvolt Striker Pack will be released on the Switch on August 31, but no price was announced.
