NBA Playgrounds Now Available Exclusively on the Switch eShop

Arcade basketball reached its peak in the ’90s with the NBA Jam series, and while NBA Hangtime followed up on it well, it’s been nearly a decade since we’ve seen anything come close to that style of action. NBA Playgrounds sets to change that, and is available now for all Switch owners via the eShop. This $20 release is surprisingly affordable, especially when you consider that it does have an NBA license attached to it. It allows your shots to be on fire and you can even soar across the air and make crazy dunks if your so desire.

It’s 2-on-2 basketball and it’s playable wherever you want. You can play with up to three other people on the Switch and battle rival teams with the final goal being to battle Allen Iverson. It may seem a bit odd to have a boss character in a sports game, but it’s perfectly in line with things like Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out from years gone by – where you have a sea of regular enemies and then finally battle a true master of the craft to prove your worth.
