Last week, it was announced that Kamiko would be released on the North American eShop today and it’s finally happened. After a month of incredible reviews, it is finally available to download and play without needing a Japanese eShop account. While it’s not a tough task to accomplish, keeping it locked onto one eShop storefront does limit the game’s possible appeal. By having it available in more areas, it does open up the door for the game to be a sleeper hit. Anyone who loved the original overhead Legend of Zelda format should really enjoy it. It gives you similar kinds of action, but with a vivid pixel art style and a heavily Japanese feel as the game is rooted in Shinto beliefs and has you fight demons.
